MOBO FRINGE MCR 2026

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the MOBO Awards, MOBO Fringe MCR 2026 is designed as a citywide cultural programme platforming Manchester’s Black music, creativity and communities. The program brings together artists, young people, grassroots organisations, cultural venues and industry partners to create a vibrant programme of events, learning opportunities and creative activations across the city.

Our strategy focuses on empowering the next generation of Black creative talent while ensuring the programme delivers meaningful benefits for Manchester’s communities. Through collaboration, cultural celebration and professional development, MOBO Fringe aims to build a long-term legacy that extends far beyond the anniversary year.

We led a city wide consultation with over 25 diasporic leaders. We always start by listening, ensuring that the community is at the centre of the work. This informed the strategy, working in collaboration with Manchester City Council, Manchester Music City and MOBO, but ensuring legacy is built into the system. Central to the engine of the Fringe is the MOBO Assembly: 10 diasporic led organisations, empowered with resource, skills and trust to deliver activations.

Working in collaboration to deliver black led creative excellence with partners across the city including Factory International, National Basketball Centre, Whitworth Art Gallery, Renae, Cupra City Garage and Niamos Centre.
